Special Education

From conducting research and developing products that bridge the gap between research and practice to providing professional development, RMC-Austin is committed to improving outcomes for children and youth with disabilities. Our staff expertise includes providing effective reading instruction for students with emotional/behavioral disorders, preventing reading difficulties, identifying high incidence learning disabilities, and implementing special education law and regulations.

Past projects of RMC-Austin staff members include a study of the effectiveness of professional development for teachers of students with emotional behavioral disorders, as well as creation of numerous professional development guides geared toward reducing reading difficulties for at-risk students and providing special education students access to the general education curriculum.
